About this event

Our 2021 Mina Fink Lecturer Elana Rubin AM, Chair of Afterpay and a Director of Telstra and Slater & Gordon, will be speaking about the importance of women's empowerment in all aspects of life. Helen Silver AO, Allianz Australia’s Chief General Manager, Corporate Governance and Conduct, will speak with Elana about empowering women in the boardroom, business and beyond.

Elana Rubin AM is currently Chair of Afterpay and a director of Telstra and Slater & Gordon. She is also Chair of Victorian Managed Insurance Authority and a director of several unlisted companies and government bodies in infrastructure, financial services and property. Previously the chair of AustralianSuper and WorkSafe Victoria, she has served as a board member in the property industry, financial services, insurance, infrastructure, innovation, public policy, professional services and not-for-profit sectors.  She is a member of Chief Executive Women and Women Corporate Directors Intl. and her career reflects a deep understanding of corporate social license to operate and a commitment to diversity, social equity and participation.

Helen Silver AO is a broadly experienced executive who has worked at the highest level in both the public and private sectors. Her long career in the Victorian and Commonwealth governments culminated in a five-year appointment as Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, and worked closely with all sides of government at the highest level. She is a recognised thought leader in the social finance and insurance industry, currently serving as Chief General Manager of the workers compensation business at Allianz Insurance.
